A Visit to California China Style

Posted on June 9, 2014

According to the China Daily, southern California recently hosted a group of visitors from China for a week. This would have been an unremarkable event except that, impressively, this group consisted of 7,000 Chinese visitors. The group was large enough to have its parting event at the Anaheim Convention Center. The Mayor of Anaheim, Tom Tait, gave the keynote speech. It will take more than 20 airplanes to take them home. Caroline Beteta, CEO of Visit California, and one of the partners making the visit possible, hosted a press conference to mark this historic event believed to be the largest group of visitors from China to ever alight in California.

Kish Rajan, director of Governor Brown’s office, gave the credit for the 7,000 person group’s successful visit to the in-depth long-term relationship of California and China in culture and economics according to the paper. “I witnessed the rich relationship of California and China in my last trip with the governor in April 2013,” Rajan said. “The foundation of the cultural exchange and economic cooperation is already there, built by people of California and China. We are going to make it deeper by having this meaningful and incredible 7,000 Perfect China group here.”

Guowei Xu, vice-chairman of Perfect China, told the audience that to many Chinese visitors, this is a “California dream come true”.
